This Canberra Red Brick pin fundraiser is to assist Kristina Neumann’s travels to undertake study in Germany in September this year. (In two weeks time!)
Kristina has spent the past few years making works about home. One of the primary materials she has used to create this work is Canberra Red Brick. The materiality of the red brick evokes a strong connection to place and takes up a soft spot in the hearts of many locals.
In 2019, Neumann was offered a place at Trier University of Applied Sciences, to undertake a Masters of Fine Art in Gemstones and Jewellery. An incredible experimental jewellery program that will continue to add and shape her career trajectory. While the degree is free, she will still need funds for materials and living expenses.
The Canberra Red Brick Pin Fundraiser is an effort to raise funds for said expenses while she studies full-time overseas for two years.
Each pin is unique and has its own distinct marking and variation on the edges. Some are crisper and others have an aged quality to them. Slightly different in size, they fall into two approximate size ranges: 10 x 20mm + 11 x 22mm. They’re also best worn on a thick jumper or coat to accommodate the weight of the pin.
There will be a limited edition of 100 pins for sale.
